Amid Criticisms, Top FDA Officials Recuse Themselves from Covid-19 Vaccine Approvals



Two top officials at the U.S. FDA, suddenly at the center of the White House’s effort to speed approval for Covid-19 vaccines, will recuse themselves from the agency’s considerations about whether to approve those products, according to an email obtained by STAT. The two officials are Janet Woodcock and Peter Marks. The former is the well-known head of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) while the latter is the equally well-known head of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER). Learn More
